Rishab Shetty was born Prashanth Shetty in Mangaluru, Karnataka. During his college days in Bengaluru, he pursued a B.Com degree and joined a theatre troupe, where he was part of Yakshagana plays. The recognition he received while performing in theatre plays pushed him to pursue acting and direction. However, it took Shetty almost 10 years to get his first film as a filmmaker. To survive and make a living, the actor did odd jobs, which included selling water cans, working in real estate, and working in hotels.
