Longlegs: A Chilling Serial Killer Horror Masterpiece
As a seasoned horror fan, I’m rarely left shaken by the genre. But Longlegs, the latest horror film from Oz Perkins, chilled me to my core. This is a masterpiece of the genre and a work of art. Nothing I’ve seen so far this year has come close to Longlegs - it’s that good.
A Serial Killer Horror Film Like No Other
Longlegs is the best serial killer horror film since The Silence of the Lambs. While it doesn’t traffic in the same territory, it’s a cousin in petrifying vibes, impeccable craftsmanship, and overall quality. Watching this mix of police procedural, occult slayings, and atmospheric stress, you’re able to give yourself over to the filmmaker. For about 100 minutes, you’re allowing the possibilities of a great horror movie to wash over you.

A Chilling Performance from Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage plays the satanic killer, Longlegs, to perfection. He finds a frequency that will haunt your nightmares. The look, the sound, everything about Longlegs is a Cage original. Maika Monroe, as FBI Agent Lee Harker, is also outstanding. She’s a force of nature, and when she’s scared, we’re scared. Blair Underwood, as Agent Carter, has a steady and reliable presence, bouncing well off of Monroe.

A Masterclass in Horror Filmmaking
Filmmaker Oz Perkins has been steadily building his horror profile, but this is above and beyond. Longlegs is his masterwork. Perkins’ screenplay trusts his audience while always playing fair with them, and his direction funnels dread into every frame. The existential fear baked into every single scene is something to behold.

A Horror Masterpiece That Deserves Acclaim
In a perfect world, Longlegs would be an Oscar contender. Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay for Perkins, Best Actress for Monroe, and Best Supporting Actor for Cage are all worthy citations. This is a crowning achievement for the genre and the best film of 2024 so far.
