Alternate Designs for Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova Revealed in New Deadpool and Wolverine Concept Art
The world of comic book movies has once again shown its vast potential with the recent release of Deadpool and Wolverine. As with all major comic book adaptations, fans were excited to see how the filmmakers would choose to represent some of their favorite characters. For one villainous character in particular, Cassandra Nova, the team went through multiple iterations of her costume design before settling on the final look.
As shared by Deadpool and Wolverine concept artist John Staub on social media, these alternate designs give us a glimpse into what could have been. Each of the different costumes shares the same level of attention to detail that fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have come to expect from these types of films.
One thing that makes the MCU stand out is its willingness to push boundaries and explore different aspects of the characters. Sometimes, this can be through subtle variations in their costume design, and other times it’s through larger narrative shifts.
Emma Corrin Discusses the Possibility of Returning to the Role of Cassandra Nova
As seen in an interview, Corrin opened up about the possibility of returning to the role of Cassandra Nova. While they seemed to appreciate the chance to portray this complex character, it’s unclear if the filmmakers plan to include her in any upcoming movies.
“I mean, does anyone die in the MCU?” Corrin stated, poking fun at the way that death often works within these movies. It’s not uncommon for characters to come back to life after a few movies have passed.
‘I felt so much pressure to do this character justice because it’s the first time she’s been seen on screen,’ they added. “And yeah, you just want to make the fans happy because these characters mean so much to them. And yeah, I hope I did it justice. And obviously, I’d come back at any moment.”
This pressure is likely one of the driving forces behind Corrin’s portrayal of the character, and something that all actors strive to achieve in their roles.
Cassandra Nova: A Compelling Character Worth Revisiting?
Whether or not Corrin decides to reprise the role, Cassandra Nova is certainly an intriguing character who could bring an interesting dynamic to future MCU movies.
In a recent review of the movie, CBM analyzed the plot, characters, and what it means moving forward. While Cassandra Nova was only one of the many engaging elements of the film, she plays a crucial role in shaping the narrative.

In a way, this concept illustrates why the success of the MCU is in part built upon the recurring theme of “bringing people back” – both in terms of its cast of beloved characters and its tradition of rebooting comic book properties for modern audiences.
The door seems open for a potential Cassandra Nova return. However, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how it all unfolds.
