Aa Okkati Adakku: A Comedy That Falls Flat
The Telugu film industry has seen its fair share of comedies, but Aa Okkati Adakku, directed by Malli Ankam, fails to impress. The film, starring Allari Naresh and Faria Abdullah, had generated quite a buzz with its promos, but unfortunately, it doesn’t live up to the hype.
The story revolves around Ganapathi (Allari Naresh), a sub-registrar who takes responsibility for his family. His wedding gets delayed, and he enrolls on a matrimonial website, where he meets Siddhi (Faria Abdullah). However, things take a turn when Siddhi is revealed to be a cheat who targets men on matrimony websites for money.
Performances
Allari Naresh shines in his role as Ganapathi, but the comedy timing is lacking. Faria Abdullah is neat in her role, and her chemistry with Allari Naresh is quite good. Jamie Lever makes an impressive debut, showcasing her comedy skills. The supporting cast, including Gokraju Ramana and Prudhvi, is underutilized.
Technicalities
The writing is pathetic, and the camerawork is just okay. Gopi Sundar’s music is a letdown, with the background score being loud and not gelling with the narrative. The comedy punches are missing, and the dialogue is weak.
Analysis
Aa Okkati Adakku, directed by EVV, is a cult classic in Telugu cinema. The same title has been used again, and the presence of Allari Naresh in the film raised expectations. However, the film fails to deliver as a comedy caper. The introduction of Allari Naresh and his scenes with Jamie Lever are good, but the film is low on comedy. The flashback scenes are silly and unimpressive.
The message about fake marriages and NRI weddings through matrimony websites is relevant, but it feels like a documentary. The film’s promos showcased it as a comedy caper, but it ends up being a serious drama that tries too hard to impress.
“Aa Okkati Adakku” is a film that tries too hard to impress and falls flat on its face.
